Hi everyone!

I'm Ray and my sister Denise is a teacher. Last year she accepted an international teaching position and moved with her husband Chris to teach at a school in Khartoum, Sudan. Unfortunately, on April 15, 2023, a devastating civil war erupted in the city. My sister was trapped in her home while experiencing power and water outages because of the ongoing conflict. The situation was deteriorating quickly and it was clear that they needed to escape.

Without going into the fine details, Denise and Chris braved a hazardous five-day bus trip, navigating treacherous conditions to flee Sudan. Although they are now safely away from immediate danger, they still have a long trip back to the United States.

They were only allowed to leave their home with a backpack and the clothes on their backs. They had to leave behind everything else, including medical supplies, computers, toiletries, furniture, and other belongings. They most likely will never have the chance to get back what they had to abandon.

I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my family to help Denise and Chris get back to the US and replace some of what they have lost.
