Help Cover Denise Hammond’s Medical Costs Abroad

My mom, Denise Hammond, was on a cruise in the Pacific Ocean when she fell and fractured her hip and her arm on 10/4/23. After x-rays and consultations between the ship’s ER doctor and ortho specialists in the US, it was determined that she will need surgery to repair her hip.

On 10/8/23, the ship arrived in Indonesia, and Denise was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Manado. Unfortunately, the local hospital is unable to provide the medical treatment that she needs, and her best option at this time is to be medically evacuated to Singapore for surgery.

The cost of her medical evacuation is estimated to be about $60,000 (US dollars). Additionally, the hospital in Singapore requires a $40,000 deposit. All payments are required up-front. Although she has travel insurance, at this time the insurance company is refusing to cover these costs.

We are asking for help to cover the enormous cost of getting her to safety. We are terrified that she will die while being denied access to safe and appropriate medical care.
