Denise Young Support Fund

Our friend Denise was recently diagnosed with Advanced Metastatic Stage IV Colon Cancer. This journey started just a couple weeks ago in early August when Denise had outpatient gall bladder surgery, no big deal. During the surgery the doctor noticed a white spot on her liver, which was biopsied.   A few days later Denise got a call from the doctor saying the test had come back positive for cancer, and that it is colon cancer. Next came a PET Scan to see what exactly we are dealing with. Unfortunately the results showed two spots on Denise’s colon, multiple spots on her liver, and also on a lymph node by her abdomen. Because the cancer has spread Denise is not a candidate for surgery, just chemotherapy. It is Advanced Metastatic Stage IV Cancer.

Denise will be starting chemo treatments on Wednesday, August 22. She will be having treatments every other Wednesday, with a PET Scan in 6 months to determine future treatment. The doctors of course don’t know for sure but have given a prognosis of 2 years.

Denise is a giving and loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for many years, is a volunteer child advocate with the Maricopa County Court, and has been a mentor to friends and classmates of her son, Conner. Denise is working on compiling her Bucket List and is looking forward to fun times with family and friends as she checks off items. Wine, a visit to North Carolina, more wine, and San Diego are at the top of the list!
