Dennis Costello’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My Dad went into surgery on September 7th 2022 for a heart catheterization, however, it was unable to remove blockage in his heart. The doctors determined he would need a more intensive surgery, a double bypass. He left that day with a bill for $65,000 in medical expenses for a surgery that was unsuccessful and even more medical expenses looming in the near future.
Yesterday, September 21st, 2022, we went in for his double bypass, where the surgeon was able to replace both blocked arteries with arteries from his left leg. Praise Jesus! We are extremely grateful for the success of this surgery and all the prayers we have received over the past few days for my dad. Although he is fighting through a lot of pain, the nurses and doctors have all said his body is doing great, and he is already ahead of schedule in terms of recovery. He’s a fighter! We have a long recovery road ahead, but we are all very optimistic.
If you know my Dad, you know he is a hardworking man who doesn’t ask for much, and he’d rather do it all himself. He once built an entire house from the ground up completely by himself. From pouring concrete, installing windows, plumbing, roofing, cabinetry to landscaping - the man did it all. So when he mentioned he was going to need help paying for his surgery expenses, I knew he was serious. He has already expressed to me his nervousness about being out of work for the next 6-10 weeks during recovery.
He is self-employed and has 25+ years of experience in remodeling and construction, so he is a go-to handyman for many people in his town. However, it is a job that requires a healthy body. My dad lives alone, so there are not many people that can tell him to slow down when it comes to working. My worry is that he feels the pressure to overwork himself to pay off these medical expenses before his body is able to heal. My wish in starting this Go Fund Me page is to ease his load and give himself some relief and much-needed rest. He is the brightest light I know, and I don’t want him to feel weighed down every day by the expenses that helped save his life and gave him the opportunity to continue being a great dad and granddad to his loved ones. If you feel called to give please donate below. We are so thankful for each of you. Please continue to pray as we work through these next few weeks.
