Dennis P. Halpin

In memory of Dennis P. Halpin (Sept. 12, 1948 - April 19, 2024), the Halpin family would like to dedicate charitable donations in the memory of his generous spirit to Wol Sunim from Bub Hwa Sa Temple. Dennis grew close to Wol Sunim through his weekly visits to temple in honor of his wife's religion. He would speak to Wol Sunim in Korean and discuss different philosophies with his curious mind.

Wol Sunim is our devoted Buddhist monk who was and continues to be such a pillar of support, love and spiritual guidance on a long arduous journey for the Halpin family. During Dennis' numerous stays in the hospital and multiple nursing facilities, Wol Sunim would visit him on a weekly basis. She would offer prayer, spiritual support, words of encouragement, and food from the temple. During this time, she was a tremendous support to Mina & Eileen Halpin by feeding them weekly and offering guidance and support as well.

Wol Sunim would bring visitors as well like her monk friend Bhante Maithree and members from temple to pray over Dennis throughout his journey. She also arranged for the acupuncturist, Dr. Bong Jo, from temple to visit Dennis every Sunday at home to ease the pain of his arthritis. Wol Sunim promptly joined Mina & Eileen's side as well to pray over him while he transitioned. She will also be hosting one of the two funeral services at Bub Hwa Sa Temple.

Wol Sunim has great aspirations of building a temple for Bub Hwa Sa and we would love to help contribute to her dreams and return the love she so generously has given the Halpin family.
