Help us cover Denzel Goredema's medical costs

Hi, our names are Davina and Makhosi, and we are helping our friend Ruvimbo raise money to support the cost of her nephew Denzel Goredema's medical treatment in Zimbabwe.

Denzel was hit by a car in Mount Pleasant, Harare when he was crossing the street on the evening of Monday, January 9th, 2023. He sustained traumatic brain and chest injuries. Denzel has no medical insurance, which means that his treatment requires a cash payment upfront. As a result of having to negotiate the costs of treatment, it took 22 hours for him to be admitted to a hospital. In the week that has followed his aunts and uncles have used all their available savings to fund the cost of necessary tests and treatment.

Denzel opened his eyes for the first time on January 17, which has given us hope that he will recover. However, he is awaiting numerous tests and has a long road ahead of him. As the level of health care in Zimbabwe is dependent on how much money a person has, we are appealing to family and friends of the Goredema family to help us support them during this emergency.

At the moment, the funds raised will go towards the following costs (Please check the updates for changes to this list):

Short term:-

Shunt procedure: $1500

Hospital stay: $14000 (2 weeks at $700 a day)

Weekly medication: $500

Long term:-

Rehabilitative care estimated at $5000 (which will include physiotherapy, dental work, nurse aids and equipment to help with his mobility).
