Deputy Family Loses Everything in SC House Fire

Donation protected

On the evening of January 6th, 2024, SC Deputy Josh Seymour woke up to the screeching of the smoke detectors in his home in Upstate SC. Upon waking and exiting the bedroom, he realized in horror that his house was in flames and going fast. Thankfully, he had several precious moments to grab a few belongings and both family pets before jumping into his vehicle and parking it a safe distance away. He was unable to re-enter the house to save any other belongings due to the severe heat and smoke of the growing blaze.

Thankfully, wife Kiley, and their young daughter, Lucy, were safe out of town visiting family. Even more important, Josh and both pets made it out safely with no medical/physical injuries.

Though walls are still standing, the house is destroyed and unlivable. The fire that started in the living room went quickly into the walls and roof and spread throughout the house. Anything that was not consumed in the fire is unusable due to the ash and toxins from the smoke and flames. This includes clothes, household goods, furniture, electronics, toys, and all of Josh’s work equipment. The family had lived in this house for less than a year, and will need to find a new permanent place to live.

Although the Seymour family has a strong support system in local family, friends, and their law enforcement agency, it will be no easy or quick task to come back from an tragedy of this proportion.

We (Ryan and Tiffany) are setting up this fundraiser for the Seymours because they are good friends of ours, and Josh and Ryan are partners at work.

We are setting an initial goal of $30k to help with expenses to get the family back on their feet and replace items that were lost as well as going towards their future housing. The funds will go directly to the Seymours account so they can start to delegate it to where it is needed most.

We are so thankful their lives and pets were spared in this awful fire. We appreciate any donations you feel moved to give to the Seymour family.

The funds from this GoFundMe will go directly to the Seymour's to help replace furniture and other personal items not covered by insurance and to help with necessities while insurance examines the claim.

Thank you in advance!
