Deputy Josh Owen, killed in the line of duty

We are raising funds to offset the travel costs for this hero's family and to support the family of this fallen officer. Josh's father is a retired Officer from Carrollton Township PD and his uncle is also a member of law enforcement and both serve on my unit. Members of this unit are raising funds to help support this family during this unimaginably difficult time.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, officers from the Glenwood and Starbuck Police Departments and the Pope County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residential address in Cyrus on a domestic call. There was an exchange of gunfire and 3 officers were shot. Pope County Deputy Sheriffs Deputy Josh Owen was killed. It was Josh's 44th birthday.

Josh was an Honored Officer and Military Veteran who proudly served his Country and Community. He was a loving Father, Husband and Son. His father, a Sergeant and his Uncle, a Lieutenant in our law enforcement unit, and their families, are shattered by this devastating loss and our unit is coming together to raise funds to help offset the expenses that these officers and their families will have as they travel to support the family and each other. Any funds they do not utilize for the expenses of the father and uncle (and their family members);will be provided to help Josh's wife and son and used by the Owen family to support each other and other ways they determine is appropriate.

This GoFundMe campaign is being done with the permission of the family by fellow officers of Josh's father and uncle who are members of the Saginaw County Sheriff's Mounted Division.
