Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
These last few weeks have been pretty tough for the Moser family. On August 16th, while on a family camping trip, Deputy Matt Moser’s son, Titus, had an accident which resulted in a broken femur. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, had a very invasive surgery, stayed multiple nights, and is now in a spica cast, which in essence is a half body cast. He will have a long recovery due to the type of bone fracture, but is doing well.
Unfortunately, this is not where the story ends. Not even two weeks after his son’s accident, Matt was reinforcing the ramp to the front door where Titus gets into and out of the house, and he experienced a tragic and extremely severe hand injury. While using a table saw, his hand slipped. As we all know, it only takes a split second. Matt tragically lost three fingers. He was rushed by ambulance to Good Samaritan in Corvallis and due to the type of complex hand injury was then taken by another ambulance to Legacy Emanuel in Portland. The surgeons were able to reattach two of the three fingers. At this point, it is a wait and see game to know if everything will heal well and if he will regain function in the injured reattached two fingers. The surgeons say it may be up to a year to recover.
Matt has been in Law Enforcement for a little over 14 years. He started off as a reserve police officer in a small city, and then got hired on as a full-time patrol officer. He moved agencies in 2018 and became a Sheriff’s Deputy in a neighboring county. Matt is an incredible man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He puts his life on the line every day for those that he doesn’t even know. I hope that we can all show him the support and kindness he shows others, especially with everything that’s going on in the world today.
Matt, along with his beautiful wife Andrea, have a long road ahead of them with medical bills (three ambulance rides in less than two weeks), rehabilitation for both him and Titus, and the overall mental stress of two major accidents not even two weeks apart.
Please donate if you can. Anything will help this incredible and well-deserving family.
Thank you so much,
