Deputy Jared Murphy - Fallen Hero

Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Deputy Jared Murphy, a five year veteran with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Murphy was on duty Monday evening when he began to feel some discomfort. After speaking with his supervisor, EMS was called to take Deputy Murphy to the hospital for an evaluation. Deputy Murphy subsequently coded three times on the way to the hospital. Deputy Murphy was revived, but was placed in a comma in an effort to stabilize his health. Sadly, Deputy Murphy passed away earlier this evening.

Deputy Murphy (34) leaves behind a loving wife and three adoring children - a 13 year old son (Dillon), an 8 year old daughter (Emily), and a 3 year old son (Aiden).  Law enforcement was a passion for the entire family as Deputy Murphy's father-in-law,  Deputy Bill Reed, also serves as an officer with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

Please help us support this family in need. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Deputy Murphy's family.

Since 1997, the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association has offered an in-the-line of duty death benefit, paid to the spouse or parent of a slain Sheriff or Sheriff’s Deputy. Regrettably, this benefit has been used numerous times since its inception. In fact, 19 deputies have sacrificed their lives in the protection of their communities since we began to offer this benefit, and we have paid $190,000 in benefits. Our death benefit in no way takes away the pain of such a loss, but it does relieve, in the aftermath of such a tragedy, the stress of immediate financial needs. Often times, this benefit is used to cover the unexpected costs of funeral expenses.

This benefit is entirely funded by caring, concerned supporters of law enforcement, like yourself. We would ask that you prayerfully consider becoming a Fallen Heroes Partner of the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association and commit to providing financial resources for these fallen heroes.  Rest assured that every penny of the proceeds collected from this program will go directly to the family of those Sheriff’s Deputies who bravely lay their lives down in protection their fellow man.
