Derby Bucks International Mixed Ability Rugby Tour

We are fundraising to support a number of rugby players attend the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament 2025 in Pamplona Spain. One of the players is a proud autistic lad from Newcastle-upon-Tyne who plays for Derby Bucks Mixed ability team.

Matty Bell attended the last tournament held in Cork in 2022. This had a massive impact on his life in regards to finding a club that could facilitate his social needs as well as playing full contact Rugby. Derby Rugby Club have given Matty the drive and ambition to maintain his fitness and play the sport he loves on a regular basis and in turn has had a massive impact on improving his mental health.

Matty is 100% committed to the club and travels down most weekends to train and play. Even though the journey is a 320 mile round trip.

So with this in mind, his plan is to fundraise for the tournament and to maintain his fitness at the same time. To do this, he will do a virtual walk from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Derby Rugby club and back again. This will be done around and about his local area and logged on his Smart watch.

He intends to complete this distance over the month of April and will log the distance covered with a daily update on this Gofundme page.
