Derby Students Clothing Assistance
Tax deductible
More than 70% of the students in the Derby Public Schools participate in the federal free and reduced lunch program indicating the high level of poverty that exists amongst the students in the Derby Public Schools.
We want to ensure that each student returns as prepared to learn as possible. As a result. Walnut Hill Community Church's Derby Campus, provides free back to school supplies based on a list provided by the district and clothing assistance to students who are identified by the school district as having such a need.
Last year we provided back to school clothing for students, from a single grammar school outfitting 30 students with $100 shopping trips to the local Walmart where they purchased items such as pants, shirts, dresses, skirts, tops, shoes or sneakers, a fall jacket, a backpack, underwear and socks.
This year we are hoping with the assistance of people like you that we can provide clothing assistance to students in both grammar schools and our middle school who have been identified as in need of back to school clothing assistance by the district.
Here's a note received from a parent of child who participated last year that demonstrates the impact your gift can make.
"I am writing you today to personally thank you for blessing my daughter with the "back 2 school" clothes and a book bag. I am a single mom, and currently unemployed due to having my liver reconstructed & under going chemo therapy not too long ago. I prayed for a way to supply my daughter with nice clothes to go back to school, you were my answer. I can't help but cry tears of joy & appreciation. Your people touched my heart with their warm presence, patience, and very kind words. I hope you realize how your acts of kindness & giving has impacted our lives. When you receive such an amazing blessing from people you've never met, it simply reaffirms just how loving & good people can truly be.Thank you all again & again."
That's the difference your sponsorship of a child can make.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
