For the Family of Derek Floyd

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support as we navigate through the sudden loss of our dear friend Derek Floyd.

Derek is described as a kind, brave, and loyal soul. He dedicated his life to the service of his country, serving 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and 4 years in the Fire Department of New York. He made a real difference and huge impact on the lives of everyone who was blessed to cross paths with him. Earlier this year, Derek continued his passion for helping others by joining a non-profit organization servicing the veterans he loved.

Derek was taken far too soon at the young age of 36, leaving behind his wife Christine and his two beautiful children, Ethan, 6, and Abigail, 2. Derek was a dedicated father and loving husband. He loved to spend time with his family. Some of his favorite times included cuddling with his daughter, playing video games with his son, Friday family pizza night, and watching the Jets game, Ninja Turtles, or Buffy. The family recently moved to Long Island only two years ago, after Derek and Christine purchased a home they dreamed of raising their children in. They purchased their new dream home on their 5th wedding anniversary.

In June of 2019, during his service to the FDNY, Derek suffered a cardiac arrest and was able to make a miraculous recovery with the love and support of his family. Unfortunately, the previous accident caused possible complications, which lead to his sudden and tragic death on Monday, April 15th, 2024.

The friends of Christine and Derek know that Christine has a long a difficult journey ahead of her, grieving the loss of her love and raising their two children. We are hoping to raise money to assist Christine with the expenses of the home, bills, daycare, and to assist with the needs of her children. Those close to the family know how much love and support Derek and Christine put into their communities and those around them, and we would love to show Christine how much her family means to us. All of your support is greatly appreciated to help his family during this extremely difficult time.
