Derek Correa’s fight for recovery

Update-Derek’s parents continue to be by his side everyday watching and helping him get better. Derek opened his eyes November 4th. Since then he has shown a little improvement. He is more alert to sound and tracking people. He is moving his legs and arms but hasn't responded to any commands when asked. He is breathing on his own with little help from the ventilator but still hasn't talked yet. He still has a long road of recovery and rehab. Please continue to pray for Derek and his family. We come to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for assistance. Derek, a dedicated student at Alfred State, has been a victim of a senseless and brutal attack. On early morning Sunday, October 15th, he was ambushed by four men, that followed Derek onto Campus while he was walking back to his dorm and violently and brutally attacked him for no reason leaving him severely injured and everyday fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit. Derek has severe trauma to his face and brain and is in a coma. These guys did not attend school there and are not from there.

Derek just started school at Alfred State in August pursing a degree in CNC machinery. He was enjoying the college life and being independent. That all changed in a matter of minutes. He is now fighting for his life instead of enjoying it.

Derek's family has been by his side throughout this traumatic journey, offering their unwavering love and support. However, daily expenses, meals, gas, lodging, and the medical bills soon to follow, they will need our help to alleviate the financial burden that has accompanied this tragedy. They will have to be off work for an unknown amount of time. We are asking for Donations to help offset some of these expenses.
