Derek Gallegos and Family

Derek was diagnosed with Stage 4 Clear-Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney cancer) on July 17th. It has spread to other areas of his body, and the doctor’s have been working hard to treat him and defeat the cancer. He underwent whole brain radiation in Boise and is currently taking a Chemo pill daily while also undergoing immunotherapy. He is currently staying at home after his time at St. Luke's Boise, and the team at the Huntsman Institute at the University of Utah is guiding his recovery process. This will be a long road with a few surgeries in the future when his body is able to have them. He will be out of work for quite some time and we are hoping to help bridge that time with donations from his friends, family and coworkers.

Derek has lived in the valley for over 30 years, and you have most likely enjoyed his delicious food at The Sun Valley Brewery, Three TEN Main restaurant or one of the many restaurants in Sun Valley where he currently works. Along with his incredible culinary talents, sense of humor and passion for life, he is a father to Ruby (12 years) and Winston (17 years) and husband to Andrea/Andi.
