Derek Gullickson - motorcycle accident

Hello,

My name is Megan Gullickson. I am the sister-in-law to Derek Gullickson. I am married to Derek’s brother, Casey. We are creating this go-fund-me as an effort to alleviate medical, travel and living expenses for Derek and his wife, Samantha.

On Sunday, May 28th, 2023 Derek was in a life altering motorcycle accident. The accident happened near Derek and Sam’s home town, Osceola, WI. Derek was life-flighted to Regions Hospital in St Paul, MN. Where he has been since. This hospital is over an hour from their home. Sam has to travel back and forth daily.

Derek started this journey in a medically induced coma in the ICU. Since then, he has woken up, but has a long journey ahead of him. He has undergone several tests and scans, has several broken ribs and a broken scapula. But, the brunt of his injuries are to his head. Derek has a traumatic brain injury. We are hopeful with time and as his brain heals that he will be able to return back to normal life. However, his journey and length of recovery is unknown. There is no definite plan as of yet. But, Derek will likely be moved to a rehabilitation center. It may be that they have to pay out of pocket for his stay there.

His doctors have warned this will be a lengthy process.

Due to these unfortunate events and injuries Derek will not be able to work for an unknown amount of time. Samantha has already missed a full week of work. This has and will put tremendous financial stress on them. Our goal is to help alleviate this so Derek can focus on his recovery and Sam can keep their life rolling as normal as possible.

Today, June 4th, 2023 is Derek and Sam’s FIRST wedding anniversary. Not an ideal situation what so ever. If you are able and feel it in your heart to donate, I know Derek and Sam will be forever thankful.

The funds will be used towards medical, travel and living expenses.
