This Gofundme was created on behalf of Derek Kyle Bacote Jr. He was tragically taken from us too soon on February 23rd, 2023 do to a careless act of gun violence. We as a family are deeply saddened by Derek’s lost. Derek leaves behind three beautiful children, a loving mother and father, four sisters, seven brothers, two grandmothers and a multitude of family and friends that a deeply affected by Derek’s lost. Derek since a child has been nothing but a loving, up beat, caring, kind hearted person. He had a smile that can light up a whole room and whenever he felt anyone down he always felt the need to uplift them.His energy was truly unmatched and will continue to still be in heaven. All funds received will be used towards his children’s education, funeral expenses, and our fight for justice against the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Police Department. Derek was shot 9 times. His death was displayed on television for the world to see without permission or approval. This has left the family in complete brokenness. They slandered his name and defamed his character. His life was taken by a convicted felon who is able to still walk the streets while we as a family have to lay our beloved Derek to rest. Please contribute anything that’s on your heart.
