Derek Shaw's Accident Recovery

Donation protected
At our All Out Live event at Lapeer International Dragway, one of our racers, Derek Shaw, experienced mechanical failure while racing in the muscle class.  His transmission locked up, the driveshaft twisted and broke the bellhousing of the trans, flipping it upside down in the trans tunnel.  He had more than the required safety gear - trans blanket, 10 point roll bar, driveshaft loop, etc.  Even so, the force of the explosion blew a 2 foot hole in the floorboard and even punched a hole in the roof of Derek's Camaro.  Unfortunately, Derek's right arm was in the path of the debris.  He's had 8 surgeries and counting.  Brian Bossone and I felt that helping Derek's recovery was the right thing to do, and the more I found out about Derek, the more it cemented our resolve - he lost his wife and the mother of his lovely 3 year old daughter to cancer in 2018.  Derek's now a single dad and has to navigate his recovery with single fatherhood.

Derek never asked us for help.  His message to the drag racing community is, "Don't let this happen to you - go above and beyond to protect yourself."  He decided this wasn't going to keep him from racing, but he's having friends help him install 3/8" thick steel plates over the transmission tunnel.

So we're turning to you all, the drag racers and fans, to help Derek out through his surgeries and recovery.  Any donation, no matter how small, will help.  Thanks for your support!
