Derek Currie Fund for Fat Alberts
Donation protected
We are the friends and family of Derek Currie who passed away on September 10, 2016. Derek was a singer, songwriter and poet who loved the open stages around Toronto.
He especially loved Fat Alberts Stage and Coffeehouse at 25 Cecil Street in Toronto in the Steelworkers Building. The open stage has been running since 1967 and is Toronto's longest running open stage.
As a survivor of mental illness Derek loved and appreciated the opportunity afforded by Fat Alberts for everyone to perform.
We will use any money raised to fund events and support musicians at Fat Alberts in whatever way we can, whether to buy instruments or record a disc as Derek did. His CD "Careless Wind" was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Helping Fat Alberts survive and thrive was a goal near and dear to Derek's heart. We would feel grateful and privileged to accomplish this goal.
