Deroy & his family rebuild their lives after Hurricane Beryl

Hi! I am Hannah Carpenter an artist and avid traveller from Amsterdam. During my recent travels in the Caribbean, I was fortunate to meet Deroy, a local fisherman, and taxi driver on the beautiful Union Island. He welcomed my friends and me, to his home and took us fishing in his favorite spots, never asking for a thing in return. It was moments like these, connecting with generous souls like Deroy, that made our journey truly unforgettable.

However, the recent Hurricane Beryl has devastated this wonderful island, causing extreme damage to 98% of the homes. There is limited access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities, with non-functional water tanks impacting toilet usability.

My friend Deroy has lost both his boat and taxi, and his house is heavily damaged. His family - including his 5 year old and 2 month old - are currently staying in a single room, and without a car or boat, he is unable to work. I am reaching out for help to get Deroy back on his feet.

Your support will provide for immediate needs like food and essential supplies. Deroy has asked me to help him raise 2,000 euros, which he needs to secure a bank loan for the necessary repairs and replacements. However, I believe we can do even more.
