Derrek McClure’s Chemo Journey

Hi everyone! As most of you know, my brother, Derrek was diagnosed with Sigmoid Colon Adenocarcinoma (Colon Cancer). It was labeled as Grade 2, Stage 2 cancer.
On April 18, 2023, he went for a colonoscopy because of pain and other things causing issues. On May 23, 2023 he had surgery to remove about 12” of his colon and they removed 18 lymph nodes. Fortunately none of the lymph nodes were cancerous, but the surgeon said after he removed the colon, he could pretty much tell that the mass was cancerous. About a week later results came back from pathology as positive for cancer! He has met with his Oncologist and is now on the road to do 12 weeks of Chemotherapy. He will be taking 2 different types of medication twice a day with infusions every 21 days. His treatments start this week, July 13. Derrek decided to give it hell and get it over with in a shorter amount of time. We are very hopeful that with his treatment this will definitely take care of it and he will come out of this as being a Survivor and kicking Cancers ASS!!
If you know Derrek, you know he has a heart of gold! He has a passion for hunting and the outdoors! He has a family that he loves very dearly! He has a wife, Kim, that is always there for him! He has 4 children that he loves deeply! He works hard to provide for his family! He is one that never asks for anything unless he truly needs it! But right now he, his wife and his family are asking for help. We are unsure at this point how the treatments are going to affect him. He has a very positive attitude towards this treatment and is hoping to still be able to work, even if he can’t be there everyday. But we can’t see the future. We don’t want this to be a big burden on him! Every dollar helps. We aren’t asking for much, but to just help with his medical expenses at this time. Insurance is a blessing, but he still has deductibles, copayments, pharmacy charges, etc. If you are able, Derrek and his family greatly appreciate any assistance that you can give.
