*(Andrew needs help from his friends, mentors, peers and community. With his medical emergency he needs financial assistance to bring his belongings, and car back home to California from his university in West Virginia. Any amount of assistance can help.) *(Please read his story.)
Andrew Perry or Perry the goalie as he is often called because of his many active years as a predominate goalie for his high school and university team, as well as a youth coach and assistant collegiate coach.
A young man who you would believe is unbreakable. Unfortunately do to his genetics and playing water polo for as long he did, it has caused severe health complications, that could not be ignored any longer and required immediate medical attention. His condition requires painful surgeries and for Andrew to be in bed for many months. Not able to go to school, work or recover quickly.
Sadly, for many months Andrew has lost most of his ability to walk and now is now in need of another Arthroscopic Debridement, which requires doctors to shave down pieces of his hip and replace the cartilage with new tissue. This vital surgery has caused Andrew to endure the longest interruption to his academic and professional career. It's very sad to say that Andrew has to go through two separate surgeries on his hips, one on the left and one on his right which are both very painful.
When you first meet Andrew you will be delighted by his demeanor. He is a young man whose intellect and athletic prowess captivate those who meet him. A young man whose ethics and respect for others are years beyond his peers. After four challenging years of college Andrew has set himself beyond other students by becoming a campus dorm director and is responsible for many of the students who live at the university. Andrew also spends time in the classrooms of local schools assisting with teaching K-12 students. All of this work helps prepare Andrew to graduate with a bachelor’s in education with a focus in science.
With Andrew's unfortunate medical emergency, it has put Andrew and our family into very difficult financial struggles. My mother, a single mom of three has been off of work for over a month doing round the clock care and is financially unable to facilitate the trip to retrieve his belongings and his car from his school. Any money donated to Andrew will be used to retrieve his car and belongings so that Andrew has personal items from the university, until he returns to school in the fall. Andrew would need help from any fortunate donors. Any amount will help Andrew get closer to his recovery and being back to his strong healthy self.
