DeShawn and family displaced by fire

A Kindred team member’s home was destroyed due to a fire on Saturday, October 29th. DeShawn Hamilton, North America Account Manager, was awoken by police evacuation at 5:00am, and made it out of his home wearing his pajamas and one flip flop. Luckily, his two young daughters were not home at the time, and everyone is safe.

After hours of watching the devastation, he was allowed back in his home for only a few minutes to collect what personal belongings he could grab in only one bag. The home was then declared unsafe and condemned; he will never be able to access it again.

Unbelievably, the very next day, DeShawn still accompanied a top HNW player to an Eagles game as planned for a meet and greet and to provide him with an early birthday gift. The player had a great time and sent a message of how much he enjoyed the hospitality provided and getting to know DeShawn.

In addition to the loss, he unfortunately did not carry renter’s insurance and will have to work on replacing all of his and his daughters’ items, as well as source housing. As we are Individuals United, many have asked how they can support him in this time. As such, we wanted to raise awareness for those who might like to help.

Team members have also asked about volunteering their time to help him with the upcoming relocation, and about donating housing items. This can be coordinated through his manager, Joanna McNally, who he asked to help coordinate any efforts.

DeShawn has expressed his sincere gratitude towards the support he’s received the past few days. He’s received gifts, kind words of support, and hugs. He thanks everyone for support and well wishes.
