Desley and her daughter need a little help...

Hi there, my name is Lynne and I've never done this before so stick with me. It's a heartbreaking story of homelessness but I'm hoping we can all help and do a little paying it forward.

 

I've met this lovely young woman, Desley, through my work. She's been sharing her story with me and helping with a creative project I'm busy with. We've been chatting about life and the future, then she tells me about how she's living right now. She lives in her car! With her tiny daughter! And in this heat! For over a year she's been living in her car or couch surfing! The sad part is, it's as though she's accepted it.

 

It's not through a lack of trying to find somewhere, she has applied for many rentals and is on all the priority housing lists. She is trying so hard but she's stuck in this situation. She is clever, talented and a fantastic mum, she is doing her absolute best. Her determination just blows me away. I know I wouldn't be able to cope with even half her situation. It truly makes me appreciate what I have. I just wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all ok for her too.

Please show some community love and give a little if you can, let's make a difference in her life. Get her out of her beaten up car (it was recently bumped while parked and then yellow stickered – seriously!!) and find her a home.

 

Desley is beautiful inside and out, she has so many plans for the future, trust me, she will pay it forward one day – if she can just get there.
