Destiny Christian Academy Sierra Leone
Hi, I'm Kyle Searcy (Senior Pastor of Fresh Anointing House Of Worship located in Montgomery, Alabama) and my wife is Kemi Searcy (Founder of Women In Ministry International WIMI). We are fundraising for Destiny Christian Academy in Moselolo Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone is a beautiful country on the Western coast of Africa with a population of 7.7 million people. The people of Sierra Leone are simple, peaceful and industrious. Minimum wage in Sierra Leone is $60.00 per Month. Due to war and other factors the country’s currency has been greatly devalued. Today, $1.00 is equal to $10,000 Leones. Needless to say there is a great deal of poverty and suffering. This suffering was further exacerbated by the Ebola outbreak in 2014-2015. There is a district in the Southern portion of Sierra Leone called Moselolo. I visited this Village recently. The people were full of unbelievable joy and welcomed us gladly.
In Moselolo there are 9 villages that have no school of any kind. No daycare, Pre-K, Elementary, Junior High or High School. These 9 villages hold about 600 Elementary aged children. As I arrived to see the site where a school could be built the testimonies they shared were genuine and moving.
This lady Mamei Charlie shared how she had 3 children. She was so desperate to have them educated she sent them away to Freetown, but they were all killed. She said if there were a
school here maybe my children would still be alive. She is glad this school will give hope to the other children in this village.
We want to do something about their poverty and suffering. We have an opportunity to aid our brothers and sisters in Moselolo by building a new school. Here’s the great news. We can build a first-rate elementary school in Moselolo for just $50,000.00. We in the USA are used to seeing multi-million-dollar price tags for schools that will house 600 children But we can transform generations to come in Moselolo just 50K Here we can construct a new school and many of you can schedule short term missions trips to
teach the students for a week to a few months.
