Destiny Reflection COVID-19 Relief

I am raising $10,000 to support Destiny Reflection so the social enterprise can  continue providing essential services and supplies like food items ,nutrition, hygiene products ,medicines  for the women and girls they serve - in the area of human trafficking and exploitation in India.  Destiny Reflection  has been forced to temporarily shut down due to COVID-19 mitigation measures, putting these women and girls at extreme risk. Please give what you can - any amount will help save lives.

Two years ago, I embarked on a service trip to India, to work for four months with Destiny Reflection, a social enterprise that supports rehabilitation and economic empowerment for survivors of human trafficking and sexual explpoitation. My work with Destiny (which you can read about on the blog I kept while in India: https://medium.com/@kaliemarsicano) was nothing short of a personally transformative journey. 

I have stayed in close touch with the Founder/CEO of Destiny, Smarita Sengupta. Smarita is based in India, where a
COVID-19 lockdown has been active since mid-March. Over the past weeks, Smarita has been informing me about the situation on the ground in Kolkata: Destiny’s operations have been forced to a halt - meaning that women and girl survivors of trafficking no longer have a steady source of income. This lack of cash-flow is compromising their access to basic needs, including nutrition and hygiene products. 

I have committed to fundraising $10,000 for Destiny Reflection by July 31 2020, to help save the organization from going bankrupt, which would impact the lives of the survivors who have been on a steady and solid path to rehabilitation and social reintegration - a path that would certainly be disrupted if the women and girls had to go hungry or without essential medicines and supplies. 

Understanding the uncertainty and financial volatility of this global emergency we are facing, I am asking you to please donate what you can towards an organization that is changing lives and offering a prosperous and empowered future to some of those who most need the support.

Your generosity during my last fundraising campaign for Destiny astounded me - I set out to raise $20,000 and managed to double this target, raising nearly $40,000 for the organization. Thank you for believing in Destiny, and for believing in me.
