Destroyed by fire, Puckapunyal Primary School
Puckapunyal Primary is gone, destroyed by fired today 06 December 2020.
My name is Troy Charters, I lived at Pucka from 2017 to 2019, my daughter went to school there and I was the School Council President in 2019.
Pucka Primary is an amazing little school with around 300 students. Today at 1330, 06 December 2020 is was razed to the ground. As if 2020 hasn’t been hard enough on our children right?
Kev the principle and his teachers are amazing, I know first hand how much they love their profession of teaching and they love their students just as much, even the naughty ones!
The two years my daughter went there I was always so impressed by the dedication and professionalism of all the staff at Pucka Primary School. When I was on the school council I saw this first hand in every meeting and the 5 yearly state government school review, those teachers are amazing!
My wife Carly is a teacher and I know how much money she spends on teaching resources, making, building and growing this over her career. The Teachers at Pucka Primary school have just lost the lot, EVERYTHING, all their teaching resources they have made over years and decades, collected, brought with their own money, gone. . .
These resources are crucial in teaching the kids. Local Seymour Schools are creating space at their schools for the Pucka kids, teaching is done using resources, which have all been destroyed in the fire.
if you are unsure of what teaching resources are, here are some examples.
Story books
Times tables charts
Alphabet posters
Counting blocks
Hand made learning tools like flash cards
Pens, Pencils, Staplers, Glue, Ink Stamps like “Well done”, “Great job”, “Keep trying”.
These funds will be donated to the teachers to rebuild their resources in order to continue to be the excellent teachers they are for the kids of Pucka and district.
Please give what you can!
