Detective James "Tim" Purcell

Hi my name is Jeremy, Tim Purcell's Son.

Most of our parents are our heroes. For myself, and many others Tim Purcell was. My Dad always lived life at 100MPH, and inspired generations.

From sailing the seas in the Navy to protecting and serving the fine city of Austin, my dad lived, loved, and laughed in the most total capacity. Always.

With deep sympathy, Detective James "Tim" Purcell, a 24 year Navy veteran and current employee of the Austin Police Department, lost his courageous battle with cancer, July 20th, 2022.

Detective Purcell is survived by his wife Sherry, son Jeremy, daughter Janine, son-in-law Austin Police Officer Jasiel Hernandez and five grandchildren. Detective Purcell graduated from the 112th Cadet Class on April 27th, 2007, working on various assignments, including the Metro Tactical team. On March 1, 2020, Officer Purcell was promoted and served as Corporal. In February of 2021, he transferred to Property Crimes, where he worked as a Detective until his passing.

Funeral Arrangements will be communicated internally with the Austin Police Department and shared with friends/family.

The family will use available funds to cover medical and funeral expenses. Any proceeds above our needs will be donated to cancer research.
