Detective Kurtis Vogel's Cancer Battle

On March 5th, 2023, Kurtis lost his long courageous battle with cancer. We are all comforted knowing that he is no longer in pain. His family now has to navigate a path that will be full of unknowns. Kurtis Vogel has been battling stage 4 Colon and Liver cancer since his diagnosis in May of 2021, and is still going to work and serving his community daily with a smile on his face.

 

Det. Vogel is assigned to narcotics in Special Investigations. He was a great patrol officer, moving quickly up the ranks to Master Police Officer on a Crime Suppression Unit, ultimately to detective.

 

Kurtis is an Army Infantry Veteran and an actively serving Virginia Beach Police Officer. Kurtis is married and a father of two young children.

 

He has been fighting a tough battle against cancer and still comes to work every day, all while on his second round of chemotherapy and radiation. Even with the punches being thrown at him on a daily basis, he never complains about it and pushes through. After his work week ends, on his own dime, he travels to Duke University to continue treatment and meet with his doctors. He is a decorated police officer, having been awarded multiple life saving awards and a silver cross back in March of 2019 for his heroic actions during an active shooter at a municipality center.

 

He has selflessly given so much to his country and community, and now he needs the community to uplift him in prayer. Let’s raise him this money so we can take some burden off of his shoulders! God Bless!
