Detective Sergeant Gibson killed on duty.

On 12-13-2023, Detective Sergeant Stephen Gibson was traveling north bound on Hwy 144 in Somervell County. A vehicle traveling south bound on Hwy 144 lost control on the wet roadway and slide into the north bound lane of travel, colliding head-on with Stephen's Vehicle. Stephen was deceased at the scene. Stephen had served in various capacities with the Somervell County Sheriff's Office with over 26 years of service. Stephen is survived by his wife Stephanie, Two kids, and Grandchildren. The creator of this account, Dwayne Griffin, was Stephen's Chief Deputy, Co-worker, brother-in-blue, but most of all he was my friend for over 26 years.

Stephen was a great husband, father, and grandfather and always put his family first. Stephen was a great man and a leader in his community. Stephen will be greatly missed by many.
