Devastating Christmas House Fire
Donation protected
On Christmas night while traveling down the OLD Erwin HWY from my mothers home I saw bright flashing lights, but they were not Christmas lights. The fridged artic temperatures caused a mother and her son (Lynn and Brent Stephenson) to light a fire in their fireplace. The fire that destroyed their home began in the chimney. The mother and son, as well as their 3 dogs, were in the home while flames were unknowingly raging above their heads. When angels, as Brent has named them, began beating on the front door and informing Brent and his sleeping mother of their need to abandon their home. Brent and his mother were left with the clothes/ pajamas on their back. Brent’s mother shoeless in the fridged temperatures to watch the horror of the house they just moved to in April become a total loss right before their eyes.
Brent’s mother Lynn has a servants heart and has devoted her life to caring for others. She began caring for others back in “the candy striper days”. She is retired. Brent takes after his mother and is retired from the Marine Corps. Upon calling to see what their needs were, Lynn began fervently praying for this writer.
Lynn moved here and settled down in their home knowing she was called to serve in her church. There church, located in Blountville TN has so graciously provided them with a warm place to lay their heads. However, they have no clothing and a large deductible to pay in order for their home insurance to step in. They attempted to return to their home the morning following the fire to gather what items they needed to find their soot covered clothes that had been drenched with water to extinguish the flames frozen solid.
I, as well as Brent and Lynn, am stepping out in faith knowing that Gods is going to restore their losses. They had a beautiful place to call home, but all of that has been taken from them. Please if you can at all help be the hands and feet of Christ and put your love and faith that GOD WILL RESTORE into motion and donate to this family.
