Devastating Garage Fire Fund

On the night of Diwali, Monday 24th October 2022, our family awoke in the middle of the night to our childhood home surrounded by flames.

After ensuring we were all out of the house and safe, our father bravely attempted to put out the fire himself and had to physically be pulled away by firefighters arriving on the scene. He watched on in horror as years of his hard work went up in flames. It took 4 fire brigades and over 25 firefighters to extinguish the enormous flames which continued to burn for more than 3 hours. The community came together to offer comfort and support as he stood there in shock, devastated, and broken.

Fireworks had been going off through the evening by those celebrating Diwali, and unfortunately fireworks are suspected to be the cause of the fire.

Dedicated and loyal to his main job for over 25 years, our father was sadly made redundant at the height of the pandemic, a time where he also tragically lost his beloved father. He decided to devote all his time into pursuing his passion; restoring his Classic Cars was something he not only invested his time, energy and hard work into, but all his life savings, forging a modest nest egg for his loved ones, all of whom depend on him.

The fire tore through our father’s garage, destroying his invaluable Datsuns, irreplaceable parts and the collection of tools and equipment which he carefully curated over 30 years. Being self taught, he has worked hard to master his craft. His love and care for old pieces has made him popular and highly revered in the classic car community; it has even won him awards.

We know that most of what was lost was irreplaceable, but as his children we are absolutely heartbroken for him and are hoping to raise enough funds so that he can at least restore and repair his garage, damage to the house and start to replace some of the specialist tools and rare parts that were lost.

He is a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, loved and respected by all who know him. He has always helped others and now is our chance to help him. We would greatly appreciate any donation, big or small.
