Devastating Kimchi Sushi South Restaurant Fire
Donation protected
Early Thursday morning on February 1, 2024, The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the scene around 2:45 a.m., where crews found smoke coming from the one-storey building. To our surprise, that one-storey building was Kimchi Sushi South. A beloved Korean family-owned local restaurant in Winnipeg that opened in 2014 - was up in flames. The result was total devastation to the Jeong's, their family, the community, and of course their loyal customers. Kimchi Sushi South, has been an integral part of the Fort Garry community for the last 10 years and they hope to stay there for many years to come. While being extremely grateful that there were no injuries, the family has a long and financially strenuous road ahead. Unfortunately, insurance will not fully over the costs of the repairs to have their restaurant restored to its original state.
Anything that can be donated is appreciated more than you know! Any and all funds will go directly to the restoration of the restaurant.
