Support Our Community: Help Develop the "GANESH IMMERSION SITE" at Jubilee River Riverside Centre, Slough, Berkshire, UK
Dear Devotees,
The IDUK (Indian Diaspora in the UK) Group is humbled and grateful to share the incredible journey of the Ganesh Immersion/Nimarjan/Visharjan Celebrations at the Jubilee River Riverside Centre, Slough, over the past two years (2022 & 2023). In partnership with S.W.I.P.E. (Slough West Indian Peoples Enterprise), we have created a vibrant and joyous environment for our community, making the UK feel just like home.
With dhol, music, marquees, prasad, decorations, volunteers, and security, we have endeavored to create the best possible festive atmosphere for all devotees. Your support is essential to sustain and enhance these wonderful celebrations. Join us in making future events even more memorable by contributing to our crowdfunding campaign to develop and secure the Ganesh Immersion site. Let’s come together to keep our traditions alive and thriving!
Our Vision for Community and Safety
The IDUK Group and S.W.I.P.E. have joined forces to support our community, transforming individual visits into a unified, safe, and joyous celebration. In our first year, 2022, we brought together over 600 devotees, and in 2023, we were blessed with over 2,000 participants.
This achievement is a testament to our collective spirit and the tireless efforts of the dedicated team at the Jubilee River Riverside Centre. Their invaluable support includes venue access, staff, a safety team in boats, and the creation of a temporary pontoon structure for the safe immersion of Ganesh idols.
Since its opening in Summer 2016, the Jubilee River Riverside Centre has been honored with nine awards for its contributions to sports, youth work, and environmental initiatives. S.W.I.P.E., a charity with 26 years of service in Slough, ensures safe access to the Jubilee River for all, collaborating with a diverse range of partners.
Together, we have created a sense of togetherness and enhanced safety measures for all devotees. Let’s continue to uphold our traditions and make future events even more memorable. Your support is essential. Please join us in contributing to our crowdfunding campaign to further develop and secure the Ganesh Immersion site for all devotees.
Your Support is Needed for Further Improvements
To continue improving this cherished event, we need your support. We aim to:
- Enhance the Pontoon Structure: Adding metal barriers and extra bolts to secure the pontoon will make it more stable and safer for use by devotees. - Cost around £2K
- Improve Lighting: Extra portable outdoor lighting will significantly enhance safety, especially as the event concludes in darkness. - Cost around £1.5K
- Miscellaneous - Marquees/Music System etc £1.5K
How You Can Help
Your generous contributions will help us make these vital improvements, ensuring the Ganesh Festival Celebrations continue to be a safe, joyous, and unifying event for our community. Please consider donating to support this cause and help us bring these enhancements to life. Together, we can make a significant impact and continue fostering a strong, connected community.
Thank you for your support!
