Devin was a Firefighter/Paramedic for 14 years in Roanoke City Fire and EMS. Before that he was a volunteer at Blacksburg rescue squad. Currently he is a part time Medic with Salem City. Devin has devoted a life time to helping others. For years now, he has been a preceptor and educator to teach others what it means to be a good EMT, Firefighter and Paramedic. Most recently he has been educating the young minds at Carilion Radford University. But Devin’s work didn’t stop in the classroom, he helped many get a career in EMS and continued mentoring long after graduation. They even commonly referred to him as ‘Dad’. His wife Sherrie is also in the healthcare industry and is a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospice, and before that working on 6 West Oncology at Lewis Gale. They met while she was working at REMS giving out supplies to the firefighters. She says he wore her down in being persistent with his flirting skills. They have been together 13 years, married 8. They have 2 cats, Nermal and Sauerkraut and 1 dog Luna who is Daddy’s girl. These people have always been strong willed, relying on only each other when down and never asking for help from anyone and are often times the first to help out others. To know Devin is to love him, even if it’s a heated battle on Facebook. He loves beer and whisky and most importantly his family. As most of you know, he is ALWAYS the guy that knows a guy, who knows a guy. It’s just a Devin thing. So let’s rise up and help him in his time of need, nothing is too small. Keep fighting big guy You’ve got this!! Devin has been battling COVID-19 for over a week and is now fighting for his life on the ventilator. Medical bills will be piling up quickly and even with great insurance,  this will be THOUSANDS.  Please help Devin and his wife Sherrie. The last thing Sherrie needs to worry about is money and we don’t want Devin to come home to a stack of bills that need to be paid. Merry Christmas friends!!!

Update Devin has been in the hospital for almost a month now he spent 12 days on a ventilator before a successful extubation. He know continues to recover on inpatient rehab at LG. Prayers that he comes home very soon. He really is a miracle!!!
