Devin Young and Family

Hi, My name is Christopher Jones. I'm sitting here contemplating how I can help a brother/friend out and here I am. I will discuss what is going on in a couple of paragraphs, but let me tell you more about Devin. As many of you know often in life, things hit you with a full head of steam, and you have no time to react; that's the case here. Anyone who knows Devin knows Devin has one of the kindest hearts in the world and would do anything for anyone.

Devin Young is a 29 years old father, boyfriend, and Law Enforcement officer. Devin has worked for the Henry County Sheriff's Office, Clinton Police Department, and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. He is young, active, and enjoys spending time outdoors and doing things with his 6-year-old son, Taylor.

On Tuesday, May 11, 2022, Devin went in for routine blood work and a medical checkup. Early Wednesday morning he received a call from his primary care physician stating that he needed to go to Research Medical Center emergency room ASAP due to extremely high potassium and creatinine levels. He was rushed to the emergency room and placed in the cardiac unit where he was diagnosed with a hereditary kidney disease called medullary cystic disease. Devin was informed that in the next few weeks he and his family will have to find a new place to live that will better suit the at-home dialysis machine. In a few weeks, he will have to undergo surgery to have a dialysis tube put in so he can do dialysis until he can get a new kidney from a donor. The procedures are extremely costly and will cause him and his family to miss a lot of work. He has no medical insurance and will have to pay for everything out of pocket until he starts dialysis.

Devin has given so much to be able to protect the citizens of each of these places mentioned above, and Devin has done so with the utmost respect for the citizens. Devin always places everyone's health and well-being above his own, making him such a great person. Selfless Service would be one word that would explain how Devin is.

So in closing, let's join together and help this family out with anything you can; it doesn't have to be a lot. Anything will help. Please pray for Devin and his family, as he needs it right now.
