Hello beautiful people,

My name is Devyn, and I am a black queer healer, community organizer, and artist who has been sick with some unknown illness for the last 3 months. My body is in a state of hypersensitivity, and I can currently only eat a few foods without having allergic reactions, some days, I can’t even keep water down. I have lost almost 30 pounds in 3 months. It’s been intense and, at times, scary.

In the face of a global doctor shortage, I’ve struggled to find answers and support that keeps me out of acute life-threatening danger. This week things shifted. I finally found doctors and healers who are invested in my well-being, listen to my struggles, and don’t dismiss my experience. I am going to make it out of this and am so grateful!

I do not have the capacity to support myself financially right now. I have been mostly out of work due to my body's unstable, exhausted state, and I have blown through a pretty healthy savings trying to find healing in and out of the medical-industrial complex. In an effort to save money, I did not choose an insurance plan that could support the amount of medical care I currently need (that is changing now that we’re in open enrollment). With new specialists comes more consultations and tests. In theory, by mid-December, I will finally have answers and a plan for moving forward. To make it through these next 2 months, I am reaching out for financial support. The tests I will need cost anywhere from $100 to $2000 out-of-pocket, and I also need to cover rent, utilities, and other bills.
