HELP Us Save the Tower!

Dewings Center of LeRoy, MI, a nonprofit Arts/Culture and Community Center, needs your help to repair our historic tower and stained glass window frames. A Steeplejack assessed the tower and window frames, and the news was not good. We thought it all just needed paint, but rotting wood was found on the 120-year-old tower and frames, along with needed roof repair.

Our grant application for the work has been denied, so we are making an appeal here to raise the funds to keep the building structurally sound and visually appealing, providing a welcoming environment for our community we serve.

Since the tower is 65 feet tall, special equipment is needed. We solicited four businesses and chose a Michigan based Steeplejack, with many years’ experience in repairing and restoring historic and beautiful buildings and towers like ours. His quote: $32,500 for tower repair and painting, $8,000 to repair and paint the window frames. Qualified roofer quote: $10,000. For a grand total of $50,500.

About us: Dewings Center, operated and led entirely by volunteers, provides classes and programs in the arts and culture and that pertain to relevant community needs of today, making these programs accessible and affordable to underserved and marginalized families and children. The only Arts & Culture Center in the whole of Osceola County, we are the opportunity for many to experience The Arts. We seek to broaden access to arts and culture and community programs and provide affordable rental spaces, stimulating and inspiring achievement and life success, and promoting a connected and supportive community.
