Dexter Barry’s Autopsy

Hi all. Thank you for taking the time out to click this link. My family and I are hoping to raise money to conduct an autopsy for my father Dexter Barry. 

In October of 2020, my father was a lucky recipient of a heart transplant. As with all transplant recipients, he was taking daily medications to prevent rejection of his new heart. He was doing well until November 18, 2022 when he was taken into custody for an alleged simple assault (verbal threat). He was held in custody for three days where the police department denied him access to these life saving medications. He tragically died two days after his release. 

To add insult to injury, we were denied access to identify his body for 5 days because the hospital claimed the morgue would be closed for the holiday weekend. We were then refused an autopsy as the hospital cited they do not perform them beyond post mortem day 3. 

Several cardiac issues are listed as the cause of death on his death certificate. We are planning a private autopsy with the hopes of gaining more insight into said “heart failure”. Our ultimate goal is to see any and all parties who are culpable held responsible for their actions. 

We were quoted $7,000 for a private autopsy including costs of storing/transporting his remains. Any amount towards this is appreciated.
