Cynthia Colin Necessities Fund

Cynthia was involved in an out-of-state boating accident  over the Labor Day weekend, and sustained serious injuries to both of her legs.  She is currently hospitilazied in Columbia, MO, a 4-hour drive from the support of her friends and family.
Initially, her injuries were thought to be the compound break of her right femur.  But while in surgery, it was discovered that there were clots in her left leg, cutting off blood flow to her leg.    She endured a day long surgery to save her left leg, opening and cleaning out  the arteries.  It is a small miracle that her leg was not amputated.  She has stitches from her knee to ankle on the outside of her leg, and from her groin to her ankle along the inside.
Her right leg compound femur break also is very traumatic and painful. She has had 2 more surgeries, as well as 2 blood transfusions.  She also has blood  clots in her lungs.  Cynthia will also have to have future surgery on her left knee, at the very least, as it was damaged as well.

So many friends and family have contacted me, some know her, some do not, wanting to know what they can do to help.  So this page has been set up to raise funds for her inital necessities.  To provide a way for her to have the emotional comfort of friends and family at her side while she bravely and courageously battles to heal.   Always with a positive mental outlook and smile on her face!!
I am SO proud of the work she is doing.  She fights every single day to be brave and work on her healing.  We want her to have family and friends with her continually so she doesnt have to battle alone.  Gas/food/lodging alone has already begun to add up significanly.  We don't want her and her family to worry about financial strain and focus on Cynthia.  She is the funniest, sweetest bravest girl I know.  She would be there in a heartbeat for my daughter.  She deserves the same.Cynthia is from Des Moines, and her philanthropic roots began at Roosevelt High School, where she was active in cheerleading, best buddies as well as other extra curricular activites.  According to her french teacher she was 'one of the hardest working studets who was a great role model for other young girls in the community.'  She is currently attending Iowa State University, but will have to  miss this semester due to her injuries.  Her giving heart continues through her soroity  activities, where she is a member of the Sigma Kappa soroity.  She hopes to re-enroll next semester in persuit of her appearal design and mechandising/business management major.
Donations will be used for immediate, up-front cash needs, or other unforseen expenses.   This will be a long journey for her, and we are learning about the limits of insurance, and how it works. Not necessairily up front coverage, but after a while.  And some items are covered, some are not.  We need to get her back to DSM to rehabillitate, and her financial needs met so she CAN heal without worry.  Those who want to help?  This is how you CAN help.  Your consideration is appreciated!   And lastly, pray for her recovery daily.  This gal is amazing.  She is my hero!!

With gratitude and thanks!
