Hi, my name is Christopher Troncoso. I'm a Boy Scout with Troop 442, and a Cadet Colonel within the Wylie East High School Air Force JROTC Unit, TX-20093.

This is my BSA Eagle Scout Project and the final step to earning my Eagle Rank. Please take a moment to look through my project.

Retied Flag Receptacle

I'm raising money to buy a steel courier box. The purpose of this receptacle is for the local community to deposit their worn, tattered flags that need to be retired properly, rather than throwing them in the trash. Wylie East AFJROTC cadets (of which I am apart of) will receive these donated flags to properly dispose of them with honor.

Serviced by Air Force JROTC

I have arranged for the Wylie East Air Force JROTC unit to be the beneficiary of my Eagle Scout Project. They have a protocol ceremony in place to dispose of retired flags. The instructor has agreed to care for and maintain the flag receptacle as part of JROTC on-going community service.

Costs Involved

Most of the cost will go towards purchasing the steel courier box itself. The remaining cost will go towards professionally wrapping the courier box, in an American flag graphic, so that it doesn't look like a mailbox. The design (pending) will reflect the importance of its function, especially mounted in front of Wylie East High School. All donations go directly towards the purchase of the courier box and it's wrap (not BSA or AFJROTC).

Why This Project?

I had this project in mind for a long time. I've participated in ceremoniously retiring of the American flag as an Air Force JROTC cadet, but I had to learn how. The opportunity to participate and experience this is rare. I'd like every high school cadet to have a chance to learn how we honor a retired flag as an exercise in integrity.

Please help me by make a donation of $50 or $100. Share this project with your family; especially veterans. All donations go directly towards the purchase of the courier box and it's wrap.

Deadline

My goal is to finish fundraising by April 30th so I can complete the installation project in May. After the month of May I'll age out of qualifying for the Rank of Eagle.

Once the receptacle has been ordered, a estimated target date will be determined for its instillation. Donors will be invited to its dedication at Wylie East High School.
