We are David and Stephanie Richards and this is our beautiful 8 year old daughter, Sophie Richards. She is dealing with a life changing diagnosis. On 10-14-2020 she went in for a MRI at Cincinnati Childerns. Within 5% of the test they had us in a room talking to a surgeon. Sophie has a ((27mm by 14mm)) inoperable tumor located on her brainstem. The tumor caused hydrocephalus and she is having a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery.
This brought on profound hardships and burdens onto our family. We now live day by day and never take the small moments for granted. We are trying to stay strong and feed off each others strength. If it wasn't for Sophie being so incredibly courageous and our faith in God, we would be lost. A brain tumer diagnosis brings it's burdens. This has not been easy for any of us and exspecially Sophie.
Absolutely every single second we get with her, we are so blessed and we are so profoundly thankful to God and for the angels on earth that worked tirelessly to save her life. Sophie is humble and grateful to everyone who supports her. She has a heart of gold and the world needs more light like hers.
With medical expenses, the unknown of future treatments and diagnosis this adventure is currently outside the limits of our pocketbooks. We fear not being able to make our small moments count and want Sophie's dreams to be accomplish. As her parent's, we don't want to see her worry about her future but instead want her to live life to the fullest.
As of right now she is currently making a bucket list of places, projects and hobbies she would like to visit and or accomplish. She is literally taking life one giggle at a time and appreciates all the support. As her parents we are still in shock. Not only because of the diagnosis but the amazing support from our community, the people who have sent us strength, prayers, and showed us kindness. Beyond grateful and just in tears at how many people care about our beautiful daughter.
