DHS Homecoming at Brook Run Park , Oct 30, 6- 9PM

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Elma Orr, a parent of a senior at Dunwoody High School.
  • As many may not know,  for some reasons the DHS students are not authorized to have their homecoming within the DHS facilities.
  • Our students have gone through a lot in the past year and it would be great for them to have a memorable dancing party to be remembered for years.
  • As a mom of DHS senior and seeing a group of moms (class of 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) posting their opinions and initiating a large discussion on the Next Door and on their Facebook Pages about the chances of having the homecoming outside of the school, some asking for help of the mayor, others looking for churches and other venues , and seemed to me that nobody was getting a solution due to the lack of time and places available, I decided to step in and call the Dunwoody Parks and Recreation and ask for their help to solve the problem of lack of venue, and secure the date of October 30th - 7pm -10 pm for the Dunwoody Brook Run Park Amphitheater + Pavilion for Homecoming dancing party - for all 9th-12th grade students.
  • The Brook Run venue has been temporarily secured for the homecoming but its rental needs to be paid ($500).
  • Got a couple of quotes for professional DJs - price range of $950 due to the estimated audience number , and it includes extra speakers and lights.
  • We need to get a police patrol for the event, and a photographer to take pictures of the students during the event and post them for free downloading - So, our basic goal is around $2,000 - $ 2,500.
  • The plan is also to sell tickets (homecoming passes) to raise money as well, along with this GoFundMe project.
  • As the City of Dunwoody can't hold on a venue without the proper rental fee been paid, and a DJ needs a down payment asap to secure an appointment, it is crucially important that the above goal be achieved until October 15th, so we can go ahead and pay the City's Parks and Recreation, the DJ to ensure the October 30th homecoming happens.
  • This is the last chance of having the homecoming and time is up. We really need the help of parents and friends to sponsor it asap.
  • To conclude, needless to mention that not having the HOCO at school is very disappointing, however  we the parents and friends can make it up! Just donate now and be proud of supporting our Dunwoody High School homecoming!
