Fishes and Loaves for Shell & Larry
Donation protected
As many friends and family know, Larry and Shell Johnson have been going through some very difficult times in the past few months. Recently, Larry was hospitalized with stage 5 renal failure. We didn't think he was going to make it, but after over a week in the hospital, we are beyond glad to report that he pulled through! His kidneys, however, no longer function at all. Larry will have to be on dialysis for the rest of his life or have a kidney transplant.
In addition to this very stressful medical situation, Shell lost her job of many years at Southwest Airlines due to post-stroke related symptoms which negatively impacted her ability to function at work. And the icing on top? They now have no income, as Shell's unemployment insurance is being contested, and Larry is unable to work.
We have several balls rolling to help their financial situation -- unemployment insurance, disability, job searches for Shell... but unemployment is being contested, disability takes a long time for approval and benefits to begin, and finding a job in the econonmy's current state is a nightmare unto itself. The balls are rolling, but far too slowly.
So Larry and Shell are looking to their loved ones for help and support in their time of need. If you know Larry and Shell at all, you know one thing about them stands out the most -- they are always willing to help those around them. Momma Shell is called Momma Shell for a good reason. I know personally, these two have been there for me through many very difficult situations. They've helped people travel to see their loved ones, sponsored friends who needed a helping hand to get back on their feet, they even flew into Arkansas for a day *just* to attend my dad's funeral to support me. These are good people who give and give. They are the very spirit behind fishes and loaves. And now it's *their* turn.
If you are here reading this, please recall the times Shell and Larry have been there for you or someone you love, rally your resources, and do what you can to help these two beautiful family members. No donation is too small. And if you are unable to afford to help monetarily, please at least help by sharing this gofundme on your social media sites, and spread the word. No two people have ever deserved it more.
Your donations will cover the cost of the following needs for Larry and Shell:
--Training for Shell and John to become Larry's caretakers at home
-- Modifications to Shell and Larry's house to be wheelchair accessible
-- Equipment for Larry to do Dialysis at home
-- Bills, food, and general cost of living until their applications for government assistance are approved and benefits begin
Please be as generous as you are able to be, and help it grow.
