Support Safieh's Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
This fundraising page is for Safieh, who is currently battling cancer.
Safieh is a mother of three children and a domestic abuse survivor who has turned her life around by going back to school to become a trauma psychologist. She has become a community leader, supporting women in her region to start new lives.
Safieh was diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma last year. She has been undergoing treatment and, based on her doctor’s professional opinion, has a 90% chance of survival. Unfortunately, the family is struggling to cover her medical fees after using all their savings and selling everything they own to cover the costs of her treatment.
Given the country’s lack of access to the medication she needs and the family’s financial problems that have only gotten worse, the family is struggling to continue her treatment. The cost of her treatment is around $55,000, $30,000 of which is not currently covered in any way.
Please donate what you can and support Safieh’s healing journey so she can continue to do what she does best and support her community.
Safieh’s Story:
10 years ago, Safieh gathered all her strength and left her abusive husband with her three children. Through hard work and without even the slightest financial support or skill set, she built a new life for herself and her children in the harsh economic and social conditions of the country. She went to university at the age of 48 to get her BA and MA in psychology and worked as a licensed trauma therapist until her diagnosis. She became one of the best and most recognized therapists in her city.
For about a decade, she held free weekly classes for women who couldn’t afford therapy. Through her guidance, many women were able to transform their lives, become empowered, and even start their own businesses, finding hope in their futures. She believes her greatest contribution is helping women discover their talents and strengths, nurturing them, using it to build a better future, and empowering them to stand up against injustice.
