Diabetic Alert Dog and Hero for Ali
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Ali. It is official and I have had Type 1 Diabetes for 14 years! I've seen technology make this illness easier and easier; I am lucky enough to have an insulin pump and a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) that leave me unable to complain.
Yet I have also ben unfortunate enough to see myself in some pretty scary situations with extreme lows and extreme highs spending multiple days in the hospital for episodes of DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) which have at times been a result of equipment malfunction.
As much as I don't want to admit it, or let it happen, this disease is part of me. It affects me daily...the entire day...always on my mind even with the life-saving adaptations like my pump.
I am now looking to a living, breathing, and slobbering option to help alleviate a bit of the stress of diving lows and blood sugar fluctuations i. e. a Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD)!
Just as any treatment or equipment for an illness, these incredible dogs are costly! Please consider a donation to my fund for this dog while I work through the process of receiving one. Everything is appreciated. Donations and questions, too! Question about diabetes? About the trained pup? About me? Please ask! Have words of wisdom? I beg of you to share those!
*INCREDIBLY, one special donor is willing to match what comes in for the first $5,000, so please help jumpstart this fund!!!*
Thank you all,
Ali <3
