My Fight With Stage 4 Nasopharyngeal Cancer
Hi Everyone!
I’ve started this fundraiser to potentially assist me with treatments, appointments, tests, and scans dealing with my battle with cancer. Below is a quick timeline of how Cancer was introduced to my life and the steps I’ve taken to fight my illness.
June 23rd: Emergency Room visit for difficulty breathing, swallowing, headache, and earaches. Biopsy from lymph nodes taken and CT scan taken.
June 28th: Ear Nose Throat Specialist officially diagnosed my condition as Stage 4 Metastatic Nasopharyngeal Cancer
June 12th - Sept 13th. 4 Cycles of Chemotherapy using two kinds of drugs. Cisplatin 8 hours treatment and I forget the second name of the other drug which was a shorter 2-3hour cycle. The days following chemotherapy would be some of the worst I’ve experienced in my life. I could barely get up without having to vomit or feel nausea for days to come. The feeling of worthlessness during those days.
It was summer time and my appetite was back to normal and my taste buds was also back. I was even attempting to make visits to the gym for cardio sessions. Until maybe a week and a half after my
Last chemo session was over. I feel all symptoms I was feeling before any treatment was done coming back to light. (Sore throat, difficulty breathing/swallowing, headaches, earaches, swollen lymph nodes in my neck)
Sep 23rd. A pet scan was scheduled to find out what the treatments has done for me. Both oncologist have bluntly informed me that the cancer has progressed.
Oct 13th:
I will be forced to resign from my current place of employment. Minnetronix. They’ve been well accommodating with my crazy schedule. But it’s gotta be about me 100% of the way.
My Chemotherapy Oncologist has told me that it isn’t a condition that can be cured and any treatment scheduled in the future is to contain cancer from spreading into other areas of the body. At least he gave my mom and myself an honest opinion on how long I have left. Which was 6 months if he could make a positive guess. I have been fitted for a radiation mask for radiation from 10/19-10/30.
With an aggressive chemotherapy attack starting 10/28.
With such heavy news, I haven’t figured out how to register it fully yet. If worst come to worst. I’ll be leaving a son behind, both my parents and 3 older sisters. I have yet to waive any white flag as I’ll be exploring different diets and treatments along with what’s been scheduled. I appreciate all those who have supported me through this entire process. If there’s any hope for me in this world I wish I could find it, not for me, but for my 5 year old son. There hasn’t been a night I haven’t cried since the news has been broken to me.
