Support the Pace Family’s Efforts to Bring Halloween (and Holiday) Magic to the Austin Community & Raise Money for three worthy Local Organizations that support Austin Children.
Our story: Over the past several years, Joel Pace (with the help of his family many volunteers) has brought the wizarding world of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley to life for Halloween in front of his Austin home. The fully immersive project originated to distract Joel’s wife from her battles with breast cancer in 2017 & 2019. Now, the family works to raise money for organizations in Austin that serve and support children in our community. Each year he spends months building the display (typically starting in June) so that the family can welcome thousands of Harry Potter fans of all ages on Halloween. In mid-November the display undergoes a magical transformation and evolves onto a holiday Yule Ball themed castle.
Last year, as pandemic and safety concerns arose, Joel re-imagined the entire project and constructed a new display (Hogwarts Castle) that could be safely viewed from a distance and by driving by the house. This year, he has added several new components and elements to the castle complex, as well as a light show set to music. Joel has never charged for admission or asked for contributions to pay for the display, but rather asks supporters who appreciate his work and the result, to contribute to several local charities and organizations that he and his family support.
