Diamond Rally - Team St. Paul's
Donation protected
You may or may not be aware I have been living with a progressive kidney disease for the past 5 years. My doctors have recommended exploring the option of receiving a kidney transplant as soon as possible. They told me that while dialysis will certainly help me, a transplant is the best medical treatment.
The wait time for a deceased donor kidney is over 7 years for my blood type once I have started dialysis, I have been advised to try to find someone who may be willing to donate a kidney to me prior to needing dialysis.
I am using the Hublot Diamond Rally to raise awareness and raise funds for the Renal Transplant clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital via the St. Paul’s Foundation. The Hublot Diamond Rally is a fundraising rally for charities, "The Ultimate Supercar Charity Challenge"!
Please help me raise money for this personal cause.
More information on Kidney Disease...
Kidney disease impacts every area of my life. Kidney failure causes a loss of energy and a lot of physical and mental fatigue. My food choices are limited, I’m not able to drink a lot of fluids and often don’t feel well enough to socialize with family and friends and do the activities I enjoy. A successful kidney transplant will improve and relieve many of my symptoms and eventually allow me to return to a normal way of life again.
The kidney donor is expected to live a normal and healthy life with just one kidney. Donors are carefully medically screened to make sure it is safe for them to donate. The transplant team makes the donor’s health and well-being a priority. I was also interested to learn donors don’t have to be a relative or be an exact blood match in order to donate.
If you would like to gather more information and explore kidney donation further, feel free to contact the donor nurse coordinator at St. Paul’s Hospital at (604 [phone redacted]/ 1-877-922-9822) or go to the BC Transplant website (www.transplant.bc.ca ). By exploring donation I want to assure you it is not a commitment to becoming a donor and you can make the choice to back away from the process at any point. You can also explore donation confidentially or I’d be happy to chat with you about it as well.
Thank-you for your care and concern, and letting me share my medical situation with you.
