Help Diamond Dance Her Way To LA

Greetings,

I would like to first Thank You for allowing me to share our story with you! This a short story about our precious gem, Diamond and her Dance Journey that has reached new heights in an unbelievable short amount of time! As I have expressed through many Facebook posts, and Instagram pictures, dance has become a major part of Diamond’s life, and mine as well! The amount of time and money that goes into fostering Diamond’s love for dance can be challenging, but nonetheless, I am so very proud of the opportunity that has recently been proposed to her.
Back Story…
When Diamond was about 2 years old, we were at a family holiday celebration. A group of adult family members began to engage in a very popular line dance. We immediately noticed Diamond studying the steps. Then all of a sudden, she joined the group and mastered the line dance! We were all very impressed with our pint sized prodigy. This would be the first of many times she would master choreography.
At the age of 5, Diamond began taking lessons in Ballet and Tap. About 3 years ago, Diamond joined a local Hip Hop dance crew which brought out the best of her talents. She performed at countless venues throughout the Chicagoland area. Events included the Bud Biliken Parade, the Chicago African Festival, the UniverSoul Circus, the Illinois State Fair, and so much more. As you can see, Diamond is definitely no stranger to bright lights and big stages!
Exciting News!!!
Although Diamond seemed to have a niche for the art of Hip Hop, she made it clear that she did not want to only be known as a Hip Hop dancer. Diamond is now currently taking a variety of dance classes at the American Dance Center (ADC) in Orland Park, IL. She studies Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, and Hip Hop. Recently, ADC was chosen to represent the entire state of Illinois at Dance Excellence, a week-long international dance festival held in Los Angeles, California. Approximately 14,000 dancers have been invited from 27 countries and 6 continents. This invitation-only event features master classes in dance taught by world-renowned performers/instructors. Some instructors include those from the popular TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance”, as well as choreographers from Broadway. The students will receive tips on how to audition for dance companies and find out what a career in dance entails. Additionally, the students will perform at the “Happiest Place in the World”…Disneyland! After ADC chose their most skilled dancers to proudly represent them at this Spring 2015 event. And I’m proud to announce that Diamond was one of the chosen few!
The “Nitty-Gritty”…
This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and we are so excited Diamond has the chance to participate! However, there are costs involved…a lot of costs!!! There is a fee of $2,500.00 which includes airfare to/from Los Angeles, 7-day hotel stay, 3 meals per day, master dance classes, costumes for 3 dance performances (including Disney), a black-tie awards ceremony, and tickets to a popular Broadway musical. Unfortunately the timeline for the payment schedule is unfeasible for the average working class family, so we need your help!
We are asking that everyone who believes in our daughter’s dream to dance, to please donate anything you can spare. No donation is too small; every little bit helps!
We appreciate that many of you all have already supported Diamond in the past and we couldn’t begin to thank you enough. I must say that this is the grandest opportunity she’s had in her almost 16 years of life. This is when we need you all the most! It takes a village to raise a child, and we are now calling on our villagers to help support Diamond’s dream.
We thank you in advance for your consideration, time and hopefully your financial support!
Love,
The Hines’ Family
